= Adams L152. Rare and important Huguenot tract concerning religious freedom and the right to resist oppressors. Its authorship is disputed. It is generally attributed to Hubert Languet, while Philippe Du Plessis Mornay is considered a candidate as well. Our copy with contemp. annotation on title-p.: "M. du Plessis Mornay est aucteur de ce beau livre" and on frontcover: "Vindiciae contra Tyrannos. Mr. Duplessis Mornay en est auteur". First edition of the letters and works of the famous Belgian diplomat and traveller Gislenius A. Busbequius. The fourth letter contains a short list of words and phrases in use among the Goths of the Crimea, which show that their language was still essentially a form of Gothic. His Epistolae ad Rudolphem II (...) gives an interesting account of affairs at the French court. Page 24/25 deal with the hyacinth.

= Extremely rare complete edition of this curious overview of European dynasties, arranged as playing cards: Hearts for France, Clubs for Italy, Spades for "Le Nort", Diamonds for Spain. The work went through several editions in several languages, but most copies have the "playing cards" cut out.
