Doctor te Amsterdam (...) was de eerste, die de koepokinënting in Amsterdam begon, en de kinderen der armen om niet in het Engelsch weeshuis vaccineerde. Ook was hij (...) schrijver van de Komieke en vermakelijke Boeren-reis van Dirk den Eenvoudigen, welke eenen tweeden druk beleefd heeft. Behalve de geneeskunde beoefende hij ook, niet zonder goed gevolg de Nederduitsche dichtkunst. Hij heeft zijne krachten beproefd in eene dichtsoort, in welke geen onzer dichters bijzonder heeft uitgemunt, namelijk het fabeldicht, waarin eenvoudigheid, klaarheid en ernst den boventoon moeten voeren, en dat ook de satyre dult, gelijk de fabelen der ouden bewijzen (...). Themmen zond van 1793-1802 [sic] drie deelen Fabelen en Vertelsels in het licht. (...) Meest alle zijn van satyrischen aard." = Nice plates in the style of Romeyn de Hooghe. Rare work, first published in English in 1697, written by Prideaux in defence of Christianity against Islam and with the aim of showing that the rise of Islam was the result of the weakness and infighting of the eastern church.
