= Nice private album of the mother (Hanna?) of Johanna (Hanneke/ Hannie) van Valkenburg. The mother was born on 31 July; her daughter Hanneke in July 1917; a brother (Albertje or "broertje") was born in May 1921. The family lived in Gombel, Semarang, Java, and possibly owned a shop. The album contains family snapshots of the Van Valkenburgs i.a. in their own home, visiting the bathing place Kalibening, friends (i.a. the Jonkhoff family) in i.a. Bandoeng and Gombel (huis Bon-Repos), the Borobudur, "Onderneming Sringen", a ship docked in Batavia on which their friend H. Wennubst would return to Holland (Nov. 1920), of a flower corso ("G.G. Bloemen Corso", 1921) in which their car was awarded the 1st prize, and of the crashed car of H. Jonkhoff. Also with older photos probably of family members in Holland, and w. some twenty loose picture postcards sent by the father ("papi") to Hanneke in Scheveningen in the later 1920s; Hanneke had apparently returned to Holland while the rest of her family stayed in Indonesia.
