- Title-p. and last p. text part foxed and some lvs. sl./ trifle foxed in blank margins; one overlay professionally reattached; some plates sl. foxed; occas. some minor defects along edges, i.a. a few chips or (very) sm. marginal tears. = Despite the (small) defects, a rare complete and fine copy of this important work on and by America's most famous architect. The American edition of 500 copies, was, apart from a very few copies, entirely lost in a fire, making the German edition even rarer and more sought after. This publication introduced Wright's work to a larger audience in the U.S. and Europe. Our copy is from the library of the important Dutch modernist architect Jan Wils (1891-1972) with his bookplates on pastedowns of portfolios. Wils became an admirer and great advocate in the Netherlands of Wright's work after meeting the Dutch architect Berlage who introduced Wright in the Netherlands. SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE II.
