"The third volume includes discussion of hypnotysm, somnambulism and magnetism" (Garrison-Morton). The photographs were specially made for the work by the intern Paul Regnard and were so well received and useful that the board of the Salpêtrière decided to provide the neurologist Charcot with a photographic atelier.
