Interesting allegory on caritas (love and compassion) with the divine charity personified by the crucified Christ on the left and the worldly caritas personified by a mother and her 3 children on the right. The caption below is the bible verse John 3:16 (For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life). The children themselves are personifications of Faith, Love and Hope, referring to the bible verse 1 Corinthians 13:13 (So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love).
